All the Long Nights

Fujisawa, who cannot control her PMS induced irritability that comes once a month, ends up exploding in anger one day because of something her colleague Yamazoe does. But it also turns out that Yamazoe, seemingly unmotivated despite having just changed jobs, suffers from anxiety disorder, has given up on things, is burned out and lost the will to live. Supported by understanding workplace colleagues, they develop a special feeling toward each other that is neither friend nor lover but more like comrade. Before you know it, they each start to think that even if their own condition doesn’t improve, they may be able to help the other.

The original novel by SEO Maiko has been made into a movie by director MIYAKE Sho, who received global acclaim for Small, Slow but Steady at more than 20 film festivals including the 72nd Berlinale. Some new elements have been added to the story, and the film captures how the two characters gradually chip away each other’s armor through their interactions together with the beauty they discover in their daily lives and the passing of the seasons.

The lead roles are played by MATSUMURA Hokuto and KAMISHIRAISHI Mone, making their first joint appearance in film. It’s the birth of a new masterpiece, a precious film that stays with you to be recalled at various points of your life.
